Izmir Ataturk High School is an esteemed high school with respectable history.
The school was founded in 1888.
Even though the education had to be paused for a while due to Izmir's invasion by the Greek forces, Izmir Ataturk High School continued as a Mekteb-i Sultani until the foundation of the Republic.
After the foundation of the Turkish Republic, the school continued education under the name of "Izmir Erkek Lisesi" until 1942 where the name "Izmir Ataturk High School" was given to the school.
One of the famous pictures of Ataturk was taken when he visited the school in 1932.
